Adult Classes

Taking a class is a great way to experience an in-depth exploration of a medium or topic. Classes are paid for by the session.

Painting Basics with Rhona Candeloro

Mondays, 6:30-9:00pm, Jan 14th - March 4th

Wednesdays, 12:30-3pm, Jan 16th - March 6th

Adult Class

The emphasis of the Painting Basics class will be learning to draw and paint through the exploration of basic techniques. As you work in either pencil, oil, acrylic or pastel, you are drawing and composing in value and colors. In this art class, we will learn how to use these concepts to achieve your particular goals or ideas by studying how light defines shape and color, allowing form to emerge. There is no experience necessary. Everyone works at their own pace and level.

Clay Your Way with Brad Hagmayer

Mondays, 6:30-9pm, Sept 24-Nov 12

Adult Class

This class will introduce several hand-building techniques for beginners to intermediates.  There will be weekly demos and projects allowing students to follow closely or to observe and augment to their own creative ideas.  Functional and Non-functional projects will be taught with emphasis on texture, experimenting with different clay bodies and glazing.

$275/8-week session, all materials included.

Working with the Wheel with Peter Morgan

Mondays, 7-9:30pm, Jan 14th - March 4th

Adult Class

This is a basic introduction to the pottery wheel. No experience is needed. We will cover centering, throwing, trimming and surface finishes for works made on the pottery wheel.

Projects in Ceramics with Kelly Swenson

Tuesdays, 10am-12pm, Jan 15th - March 5th

Adult Class

In this class we will learn slab building and use slump molds to create vessels for household and decorative use.  Students will explore varying methods of surface decoration on those vessels using sgraffito, textures, wax resist, and more!

Mindful Art Group with Christina Gonzalez

Wednesdays, 6-8pm, Sept. 26-Nov. 14

Thursdays, 1:30-3:30pm, Sept. 27-Nov. 15

Adult Class

This is better described as an exploratory art group than a traditional class. This group will incorporate elements of mindfulness and self-reflection into the art making process and is being led by an art therapist-in-training. Group members will have an opportunity to share their experiences and art with the group in whatever way they choose. No prior experience with art or mindfulness necessary - all are welcome.

$150/8-week session, all materials included.

Contemporary Drawing Techniques with Mallary Johnson

Wednesdays, 6:30-9:00pm, Sept 26-Nov 14

Adult Class

Discover new possibilities for your work by delving into the language of contemporary drawing. This course will help students broaden their visual vocabulary and bring a greater degree of intentionality into choices of subject matter, mark-making and materials. Learn how line, color, pattern and texture can work together to make compelling images and explore the relationship of drawing to other mediums such as painting, photography and collage. Exercises in this class will lean toward the experimental so students can find new ways to express their visual ideas and discover untapped material and aesthetic choices.

Projects in Paint with Kristen Pell

Tuesdays, 1:30-3:00pm, Sept 25-Nov 6th

Adult Class

This class teaches the fundamentals of painting by guiding you through projects of your choice, and at your pace. Students will work in acrylic paint on canvas board. Open to beginners and experts alike!

$135/7-week session*, all materials included.

Printmaking Without a Press with Gillian Pokalo

Tuesdays, 6:30-8:30pm, Jan 15th - March 5th

Adult Class

In this class, students will explore a variety of printmaking media that do not require the use of a printing press. They will create gelli plate prints, linoleum block prints, collagraphs, monoprints, and screen prints, and will experiment ways to combine their imagery into unique works of art.

Mosaics for Beginners with Kelly Swenson

Thursdays, 10am-12pm, Jan 17th - March 7th

Adult Class

In this class you will explore the basics of creating mosaics including glass cutting, grouting, and design development. Open to beginners and experienced artists alike. CAP will provide materials - students are encouraged to bring in found objects to personalize their work.
