Painting Basics with Rhona Candeloro
Mondays, 6:30-9pm, Sept 23rd- Nov 11th
The emphasis of the Painting Basics class will be learning to draw and paint through the exploration of basic techniques. As you work in either pencil, oil, acrylic or pastel, you are drawing and composing in value and colors. In this art class, we will learn how to use these concepts to achieve your particular goals or ideas by studying how light defines shape and color, allowing form to emerge. There is no experience necessary. Everyone works at their own pace and level.

Introduction to Jewelry with Amy DiGregorio
Mondays, 6:30-9pm, Sept 23rd-Nov 11th
Students will learn the basics of jewelry construction using cold-connection techniques in this Introduction to Jewelry series. Focusing on metal work, techniques such as wire wrapping, cutting, sawing and hammering will be explored. A variety of finishing techniques such as filing, texturing, patinas and polishing will also be covered.
The series will feature instructor led projects that build upon skills learned but will also allow time for students to explore their own ideas and designs utilizing the supplied materials. Students will work with base metals such as brass and copper throughout the course. Sterling silver will be available for the final project.

Working with the Wheel with Peter Morgan

This is a basic introduction to the pottery wheel. No experience is needed. We will cover centering, throwing, trimming and surface finishes for works made on the pottery wheel

Working from the Figure with Rhona Candeloro
Tuesdays, 6-8:30pm, Sept 24th-Nov 12th
The emphasis of this class will be learning to draw and paint the human figure. Each week students will work from a live model, working in their choice of materials: pencil, charcoal, pastel, acrylic or oil paint. Students will learn through observation the proportions and form of the human figure and how to mix skin tones, with an emphasis on creating a dynamic composition that comes to life.

Printmaking Without a Press with Gillian Pokalo
Tuesdays, 6:30-8:30pm, Sept 24th-Nov 12th
In this class, students will explore a variety of printmaking media that do not require the use of a printing press. They will create gelli plate prints, linoleum block prints, collagraphs, monoprints, and screen prints, and will experiment with ways to combine their imagery into unique works of art.

Food Forms with Abigail Severino
Tuesdays, 6:30-9 PM, Sept 24th-Nov 12th
Don’t come to class hungry! We are going to be using several different hand building techniques to create the perfect dishes, for your favorite dishes! From appetizer baskets and specialty dinner plates, to ice cream cups or donut displays. Function and design will go hand in hand while we play with the possibilities of ceramic tableware! Beginners encouraged! All experience levels welcome!

Introduction to Watercolors with Sarah Detweiler

The goal of this class is to familiarize yourself with the material and take the intimidation out of working with watercolors. Each week will focus on the basic principles and philosophies of watercolor through demonstrations and technique-centered projects with time to explore.

Techniques of Drawing with Anna Kocher
Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30pm, Sept 25th-Nov 13th
Ideal for those at a beginning or intermediate level, this class will provide instruction and hands on experience in different drawing skills and media. Using a variety of materials, including charcoal, pencil, pen, and oil pastels, students will have the opportunity to learn some of the basic building blocks of successful drawing. We will investigate the role of shape, line, value, texture, and other artistic elements as we gain confidence in mark making and move towards putting the techniques of drawing together to form a cohesive whole. Please bring a sketchbook of your choice. All other materials provided.

Saturday Sketching with Kristen Pell

This class is open to beginners and experienced artists alike! The focus of the class will be to begin and maintain a regular sketching and drawing practice. We will touch on the fundamentals of drawing while encouraging independent projects and exploration.
