Our late spring gallery show, Collective Unraveling, features the delicate, haunting work of local artist and Community Arts Phoenixville instructor Sarah Detweiler. Sarah explores feminine narratives through figurative paintings in oil, watercolor, and gouache. Her most recent work integrates the traditionally feminine craft of embroidery to challenge the boundaries of feminism. Visit her website to learn more. 



The Locals: 1st Annual Juried Show

at Community Arts Phoenixville


Exhibition Dates: August 25th-October 6th

Application Deadline: Wednesday, August 1st

Join us for our 1st Annual Juried Show. The purpose of this show is to celebrate the talent of local artists. All applicants must live within 19 miles of our gallery space, located at 207 Bridge Street in Phoenixville, PA. All submitted work must be handmade and created by the person submitting it. All medium of artwork is accepted including; paintings, drawings, collage and mixed media, sculpture, ceramic work, and assemblage. Monetary prizes will be awarded.

Interested applicants can apply by submitting the following requirements via email to:

  1. Attached jpegs of submitted work. Jpegs must be labeled with the artist's first and last name followed by the title of the piece. For example: JohnSmith.Untitled
  2. Only 3 works may be submitted.
  3. Descriptions of each attached image including: title, size, medium, and price of piece.
  4. A brief artist statement or artist bio.
  5. Subject line of email must read; Artist's Last Name.JURIED SHOW SUBMISSION

All applicants must pay the $25 submissions fee. Artwork will not be reviewed until payment has been made. This can be paid below, or via check made out to Community Arts Phoenixville and mailed to Community Arts Phoenixville, 207 Bridge St., Phoenixville, PA 19460.


Juror: Dave Walsh

Dave Walsh is an artist based in Philadelphia where he teaches painting and drawing at Tyler School of Art and Villanova University. He received a BFA from Tyler School of Art and an MFA from Yale School of Art.  Walsh’s work explores the relationship between nature and the built environment. His project has extended many years including thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail and a bicycle tour of the Pacific Northwest among other explorations.  His paintings have been featured in the MFA annual edition of New American Paintings as an editor’s selection. He was an artist in residence at The Dumfries House in East Ayrshire, Scotland through the Princes Drawing School of London. After graduating from Yale, he was selected to be a 2015-16 fellow at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Massachusetts. See his work at

Community Arts Phoenixville seeks artists that stretch boundaries in their studio practice and create artwork in dialogue with the contemporary world. We are open to work in all mediums. Interested artists may submit a show proposal.
