Painting Basics with Rhona Candeloro

Adult Class

The emphasis of the Painting Basics class will be learning to draw and paint through the exploration of basic techniques. As you work in either pencil, oil, acrylic or pastel, you are drawing and composing in value and colors. In this art class, we will learn how to use these concepts to achieve your particular goals or ideas by studying how light defines shape and color, allowing form to emerge. There is no experience necessary. Everyone works at their own pace and level.

Portrait Drawing with Martin Pieczonka

Wednesdays, 1:00-3:30pm, oct 18th - Nov 15th

Adult Class

Do you enjoy drawing people and find portraiture to be a rewarding activity to engage in? This class is for beginning to intermediate students in portrait drawing. Discover basics of portraiture through principles of form, value, line, shape and composition. Learn about the planes and proportional divisions of the head while establishing the fundamental structure. Work from a model to study individual facial features and work on extended studies of the whole head in graphite and charcoal.

$120/5 week session

Beginner Still Life Drawing with Martin Pieczonka

Wednesdays, 4:00-6:00pm, oct 18th - Nov 15th

Adult Class

Draw what you see by learning to see what you draw. This class will introduce you to visual techniques that make drawing rewarding and fun. Discover ways to express form by establishing the underlying structure from a variety of simple still life objects. We will focus on drawing a new, uncluttered still life each week using graphite, charcoal, or the drawing material of your choice. You will receive individual encouragement and support of your achievements as you progress at your pace. Instructor demonstrations will help you to understand techniques and materials. This is a great class for young students to develop skills for creating a portfolio.

$110/5 week session


Abstraction for All Levels with Mallary Johnson

Wednesdays, 6:30-9:00pm, oct 18th - Nov 15th

Adult Class

Discover new possibilities for your work by exploring the language of abstraction! Learn how line, color, space, pattern, rhythm and texture can work together to make compelling images. This course offers a variety of techniques each designed to help students establish a unique vision/style as well as find an intuitive way of working that allows for spontaneous discovery. While the exercises in this class offer points of departure from traditional representational strategies, the skills learned here can be incorporated into many different styles of drawing and painting. An optional recommended supply list will be provided before the class. Students are encouraged to work in the media of their choice.

Teen Drawing and Painting Class students will explore a range of drawing and painting opportunities to learn principles of composition, value, perspective and design. Students will gain experience working with pencils, pastels, and acrylic paints.
